The Liana Cane Collection
For more than three decades, Liana Cane Furnishings has demonstrated that the forests of Guyana can inspire furniture unlike anything else in the world.
This exhibition presents a curated selection of the company's work spanning many years, showcasing the artistry that has made Liana Cane an internationally recognized name in rainforest furniture. Using materials such as kufa vine, nibbi, ite palm fibre, and locally sourced timber, each piece celebrates the remarkable flexibility, strength, and beauty of Guyana's non-timber forest products.
Rather than forcing natural materials into rigid forms, Liana Cane's furniture often allows the vines themselves to suggest the design. Twisted, woven, bent, and coiled, these remarkable forest materials produce furniture that feels almost as though it has grown rather than been built. The collection stands as both a celebration of Guyanese craftsmanship and a reminder that innovation is rooted in a rich tradition of working creatively with the gifts of the rainforest.
